This mixed media canvas was alot of fun! I used the Bo Bunny Isabella papers and trinkets along with lace and other pretty buttons. I created this canvas for a girlfriend of mine who liked a canvas I had done for my outdoor area. As she was moving away I wanted to give her something I'd created to show her how much I appreciate her friendship. As the one she liked was looking a little tired I couldn't just give her that one so I did another one inspired by it to go above her bed and this is what I came up with. I painted the background with pale pink acrylic shimmer paint then using a TCW Stencil and charcoal glimmermist I misted the background. Then I used the acrylic paint with some texture paste and another TCW stencil to create some dimension with the pink swirl. Kaisercraft rub-ons and wooden ornate gates (painted with chrome spray paint) were used to embellish and journal the canvas. I used the Tim Holz Sizzix Die with the key, lock and gate hinge to create the gate hinge and lock using foil cardstock and then an embossing folder on the lock to create more texture. I then used art glitter glue to create the butterflies on acetate and of course made all of the flowers. I used my cricut cartridge "Flower Shoppe" to cut the flowers and then formed them into solid 3D flowers. The cherub was from a Dollar store christmas embellishment pack.
So now it's pretty hard for her to forget us with this hanging above her bed..... And probably for her hubby too! Lol
I finished this OTP project of a small suitcase for Nana over the Easter Break. This is for her to take to her Sewing and Quilting Classes. She can fill it with material and stuff and take it along with her. I did very little decoration to the outside of the suitcase as I felt it had a really great aged feel. Just adding the stamping a few paper cut out flowers and the ribbons and the chipboard letters. This project cost me $3.50. I got the suitcase for free from my Dad's house, the chipboard was free from the back of notebooks, The ribbons are left overs from other projects as is the paper. So a very miserly renovation! I think simple is often best when doing a present for someone else. I used a co-ordinating range of pink and brown papers to cover the chipboard which was left over from my book about me. I did step outside the scrapbooking arena when choosing my adhesive......lol..... I actually used liquid nails...... well I wanted to make sure those suckers were gonna stay put A...
For all those readers of my blog who are located in the Brisbane region of Australia tune in to Brisbane Extra ( Channel 9) this afternoon at 5:30pm to see a story my DH, DD, DS and I filmed for them a few days ago. If you're not in the area and therefore unable to get the program you can view it online after the show at http://www.extraonline.com.au/ . It usually takes a day to get the story online under the " latest story " category. The story is about the Lions Auties and Uncles Program . This is a fabulous program run by the Lions clubs. The program is designed to help families. They match needy children up with an Aunty or Uncle figure who they can see regularly and learn from and generally absorb into their family unit. All of the Aunties and Uncles volunteer for the program and are not paid. Though they are checked out carefully! We have applied because as many of you know we don't have any grandma's for my kids. We do have two grandpas'. One of t...
Several posts ago I talked about my complete house reorganisation. And here finally are the photos of my new scrap space. These photos probably don't show how great this area is for me, so you'll have to trust me on that one. Behind my desk on the opposite wall is the family computer printer, scanner etc and a book case filled with supplies and idea magazines. The shelves are a simple plastic (very cheap) free standing shelf system that I have used over and over for the last five years in a number of areas. Whenever I have had a baby this shelf unit moves to above the change table so the wipes and bags etc are always within easy reach. Then between babies it has been a great place to store laundry items like the iron and washing powder. But now it's for my scrapbooking supplies. Between this shelf unit and my sewing table I have just about everything at my finger tips. (The sewing table has great storage space for all those things I like to put my hands on quickly...
