LOVE Layout

Image
Here's my latest paper scrapped project. I made the word love and used a heart as the "O". I first inked these chipboard letters with my ink pads. The letters then had dimensional magic added and the heart was covered in glitter before being covered in dimensional magic. (I always paint or ink a chipboard piece before glittering as this cuts down on the amount of glitter I need to use.) The circles were cut from beautiful patterned papers I got off my sister-in-law who aquired them from cost-co. They worked out to be 33c a sheet and I have used less than a quater of each sheet. The rub-on was off a sheet from "Me and My Big ideas" which I got at K-Mart for under $5.00. The saying: The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed the mother, never. a mother is something abolutely new. -Rajneesh- I love that saying! I used my computer to write this saying on a clear label we used at my last workplace. So it did...

Travel Album - Handmade Gift

Image
For some time now I've been working on this travel album for my cousin and his wife. They are my favourite relatives! I can't explain adequately how much I love and appreciate them for everything they do for me and my kids. Last Christmas they went on holiday to Europe and I told them I'd do their photo album up for them on their return....... well...... It was August and I still didn't have any photo's to scrapbook so I decided the best thing I could do was make up the albums and then give them to them for them to add the photos when they have time to print them. This first tin is a CD tin to hold the CD's of their photos' for future save keeping. This little case is to hold all the memorabillia from their trip like coins and notes etc..... And these are the albums. I had them cut out of thick chipboard in the shape of a suitcase and then bound them so the albums are original and colour co-ordinated. I had a ball with this one. I chose papers that were bei...

Klick and Kut

I received this comment on an old post (my reply is below). Anonymous said... Buy a Klick and Kut, A.K.A. KNK. It's a custom cutter, like cricut, but doesn't take cartridges, and it cuts any computer font you have and can cut chipboard. Pricey though. $549 in the U.S. But never need dies, new alphas, and can size everything. 11:24 PM The Scrap Miser said... This sounds like EXACTLY what I want! Thank You! Now I just have to wait for them to come to Australia. After I got your post I started checking out my usual online shopping haunts... to no avail.I was actually tossing up whether or not to get a cricuit or a whishblade a while ago but didn't do anything in the end as I really do more with chipboard so figured I should spend that money on sizzix dies..... I know you said it's fairly expensive but I figure it's worth it as you don't have to keep buying dies everytime you want to do something.... You could probably create most things you want in Adobe and then ...

Free Cardboard

As you all know I love FREE supplies . And the world is full of them if you're on the lookout. My sister-in-law has caught the Miser bug (see the 12 cent layout) and has some great ideas. She recently moved back to Australia from America with my husband's brother and their two boys. And because she knows how much I love free supplies she saved some of her packingaging off a recent delivery. She gave me some lovely corrugated cardboard and some packing ribbon in the same colour as my son's school uniform. I can't wait to try out the cardboard. I'm going to dry brush it with paint and then tear the edges.... I just need to decide on a project for it. So I think it's a great idea to involve your friends and family in this search for free supplies. If people know for instance that you'd love to have the back's off their old notebooks (a great source of free chipboard), then before you know it you'll have more chipboard than you can possibly use in a life...

New range from Love Elsie

Image
I LOVE the new range from "Love Elsie". I think she's outdone herself this time. My favourite is the embossed papers. I love texture in my work. I also love that embossed paper is back in vogue as it means I can emboss my own papers and for a truly original take on it I can chalk the raised section. I think I'll do a video on this technique as it's got me so excited. Of course the only down side is you're limited by what stencils you have but I have a few so I'm sure I can make some interesting designs. Also the kids rooms are a great source of supplies. I not only raid their play doh tool supplies for my paper clay embellishments but I also raid their stencils and craft supplies. That's where I found a bag of feathers for the latest layout I'm doing. (Picture coming soon... I just have to finish it!).. Anyway here's a picture of those fantastic papers I was talking aboutthe as well as some chipboard from the same range.... I see lots of baking...

Did Someone say FREE Chipboard?

FREE CHIPBOARD: I can't believe I haven't mentioned this one before. I get all my chipboard free off the back of notebooks etc.... even my photo developers give me a free piece everytime I get an enlargement. I then use stencils and die cut machines (friends stuff and the ones at my local scrapbook store by hiring a table for an hour or two) and even some chipboard letters I've purchased at the discount variety stores for like a $1 or $2. These are traced around and I use my craft knife to cut out the letters from my free chipboard. I know this takes longer but it saves you so much money. By not having to buy slides and tags and letters etc I'm saving alot on my layouts yet still giving them a lovely fashionable look.
