retreat weekend layout - So Sweet

Image
I really love this layout too! It's so simple and cheap as I haven't used much but I think it's very effective. I have a sheet of cardstock for my background and two patterned papers from the DCWV Nana's Nursery range. I used a fiskars border punch on one (courtesy of the daisy chain scrapbook tools supply) and cut out pieces of another and layered them onto the first with foam tape. I love that the embellishments on this page are all just pieces of the patterned paper cut out and layered on top. If you wanted to make them stand out even more you could cover them with dimensional magic. I then used the store cuttlebug to cut out the swirls and swirly heart from one of the papers and after stamping a journalling square on some scrap paper I attached it using a pin as these were on special at the front counter. The letters from the "Sweet" was my lash out spend here. The glittery thickers were I think $9? for the packet. I also used the retreat's computer t...

F is for Fragile

Well I finally found a moment to do some scrapbooking! YEAH! It's actually harder to find time to scrapbook now because I'm spending my days enjoying my baby's smile and giggle.... some days it's time to pick up my other kids from school and I realise I haven't done anything else. It's so great! I'm really enjoying being able to enjoy this baby. With my other two there were too many things going on and I didn't get to just sit and enjoy them so much. So this time round I'm making the most of it... it should be my last.... though DD1 is pleading with me to get pregnant once more and present her with twin girls next time..... Aaah to be four again and believe that's so easy to do. LOL Anyway: This layout was done using the DCWV Nana's Nursery papers and a glitter cardstock sheet from a 6 x 4 pad and some ribbons I've had for ages. I also used a Kaiser stamp (for the journalling box). I cut the "F" out of glitter cardstock and atta...

Believe Layout

So of course here's another baby layout.... LOL! I used the DCWV Nana's Nursery Paper Pad again and as the papers are all quite busy I inked the edges of each piece of patterned paper to ensure you could see where one paper started and another ended. I used a Kaiser Rub On for my title (from a Christmas themed pack) and a flower with a jewelled brad to match my colour scheme. The saying: What feeling is so nice as a child's hand in yours? So small, so soft and warm, like a kitten hudling in the shelter of your clasp. Was something I saw in a scrapbooking magazine a few years ago when I was still working in an office... Anyway we had these clear labels for our files and I printed the saying on it then hoping I'd one day find a photo to do it justice and finally I did! (This is the same as what Anne was talking about: using Avery Labels to print titles and journalling). The little metal hand in the bottom right hand corner is from a pack at the thrift store and cost m...

Pretty, Precious, Pitter Patter, Peek-a-Boo, P is for:

Here's another baby layout I did. I really wanted to do something special with this photo of DS holding DD2's 1 day old foot in his hand. He is so sweet with her and is fantastic at putting her to sleep. I thought this photo perfectly showcased how tender he is with her and is a memory I wanted to preserve. I again used paper from the DCWV Nana's Nursery Pad. I cut out the deer from this sheet and raised it using pop dots. I did the same with the P. I used a chipboard letter as a template and handcut the letter and raised it on pop dots. The "P is For" circle was cut using my fiskars templates and I stamped the circle and then chalked it for added effect... again using pop dots. Finally I used rub-ons to add interest to the page. My journalling is hand written as I do like to have my handwriting on the pages whenever possible as I know how special I find handwritten things of my mothers' and grandmothers. So the ways I saved on this layout were the handcut...

Baby Layout: Ella

Image
So here is another layout I've done of the baby. ... You'll get really bored of baby layouts before the year is over I'm sure... Anyway the "Ella" was a purchase I made at a little knick knack store. I was thinking of putting it on the nappy bag but when I opened the packet I found out that the name wasn't stuck together it was instead made up of all the individual dots and to transfer this I would have to be very good at lining them up again. (not one of my skills) so I kept it on the clear backing and instead added it to my layout. Here I have used four pieces of patterned paper from the DCWV Nana's Nursery range. The saying is a TLC Phrasez Fayette Designs and a TLC chipboard embellishment. (The TLC stuff was a present so didn't cost me anything.... I love friends who give scrapbook stuff as a gift! Isn't it cool!) and the DCWV paper was $19.99 for 48 sheets of 12 x 12 and as this album is only 8 x 8 I'll have "LOTS" of left over...
