Scrapbooking Made Simple

Well here's a really simple layout. I used the store's fiskars border punch (must get one of these.. LOL) to make the edge of the page interesting. I used a piece of patterned paper from a pack I got at one of the discount stores and the chipboard letters were actually a gift, but are rather cheap and come from K-Mart. The butterfly and journalling circle are stamps I then cut out and I have stamped onto the page the swirl along the left side. My saying was again printed on acetate at the retreat.

Hi everyone. This is my latest wedding album contribution. I have used a fabulous paper from the DCWV (Die Cuts With a View) Once Upon A Time Paper Pads for this double page spread. I don't know if you can see it very well but the background paper has a sketch of the inside of a huge cathedral..... which I thought rather appropriate for my photos of the ceremony. Our church wasn't as grand as this.... but it was still rather cute. I have decided to add lots of hidden journalling behind the photos so that the kids can get a real feel for the day. Lots of information that wouldn't interest anyone else. Like we didn't choose the church. The priest I wanted was retired and had to ask a friend if he could borrow their church for the day. So we only got to see the church when we turned up for rehersal, but there was a mix up that night and we couldn't get in.... we actually did our rehersal in front of the church... This page is about my maid of honour and was done to match the page "Anne - Maid of Honour" as it is the opposite page. I didn't want to use up all my paper from the pack as I know I have alot of photos to go but I still wanted it to match in nicely. I used stamps here to decorate my background and add my title. I love stamps as they are able to be used over and over again. The flowers were in a pack of embellishments that match the paper range from Die Cuts with a View and cost $4.97. I added the extra layers in the middle of the flowers by using a K & Co die cut book (punched out flowers) as my stencil then hand cut the new flowers and layered them on top of each other. I finally found the K & Co Pad of Die Cut Flowers..... as many of you know I've had serious flower envy of my best scrap buddy as she managed to get one of these at a show and I didn't and ever since I've regretted it. I love this page! I love this paper! I didn't want to cover all the pattern so again I hand cut sections of it out to frame around the photos. The chipboard pieces are all recycled and were coloured by inking and then painting with a clear glitter paint. My mum gave me away at my wedding as my father and I were estranged at the time (it took her impending death to soften him up)... anyway I'm so glad that my mum had this role as it means I have some lovely photos of her and I. A few of my mum's friends from her childhood came to the wedding and helped to set the party mood right off the bat! We have video footage of my mum being twirled around by her friend Del. They tell me it was the proudest day of her life!

I've finished another page for my album. This one is all about my bouquet. Which I loved! And nearly didn't get! On the day of our wedding the flowers were to be delivered to my husbands' parents place but the florist delivered them to the wrong house. (Which was empty at the time, the people who lived there were out). Luckily for us there was an old man in their street who watched EVERYTHING! And he went and got them and delivered them to the right house. So his busy body ways that had driven us crazy up till then actually came in handy! LOL So love thy neighbour even the odd ones. You never know when their quirky ways will come handy to you. I scanned all my photos and have them on back up just in case which I highly recommend! These are the first two pages I have completed for my wedding album. I went with the die cuts with a view Once Upon a Time 12 x 12 paper stack because I just LOVED this page! My dress was my first miserly adventure. I purchased it second hand and paid less than they paid for the material! I still have it at home in case my daughter would like to wear it. My tiara hasn't survived being moved around and squished and such but the dress and veil are all still good. I really wanted to wear my mums dress (if she'd had one). My mum didn't really have a dress more of a coat and hat thing? So I had to go find a dress that would fit me which wasn't easy. Everything I tried on was too big! And then magic this dress fit perfectly! It was meant to be. So for $250 one embroidered raw silk dress with detachable train. Here's one of my wedding layouts. I'm doing a traditional album but have also decided to do a smaller album digitially. Just the main points! So I can print this for the kids to pour over. I had alot of photos taken at Movie World as that's where we had our Reception so there are lots of photos that don't really tell the story they're just pretty. Anyway here my mum walked me down the isle. She was really happy to be giving me away. Her friends told me it was the happiest day of her life. My dad and I were estranged at the time. (We were up until Mum got sick. We're o.k. now) Hard to believe this was 12 years ago. We got married in a little church at Oxenford as the priest I wanted to marry me had retired and had to borrow a church. This layout was completed by my sister-in-law over the easter weekend when we were scrapbooking together. I think this looks great and wanted to share it with you all to show how you can make a lovely layout without using everything from the same range. My SIL has used several patterned papers, all from different companies to form a really pretty layout. Also the felt flowers are shown in close up for you so you can see the "bling" from the bedazzler.... (I want one of these so BAD!) Maybe for Mother's Day :)

I recently digitally scrapped this layout with photo's from my wedding. My mother gave me away at my wedding and she told her friends it was one of the proudest days' of her life! So this page was done to commemorate that. Sometimes I think you need to keep it simple! There are lots of beautiful mother daughter poems available out there but I think "A mother daughter moment" says it all. I'm in the process of paper scrapping my wedding photos. The only problem I find is I keep wanting to go back and redo pages as my skill level increases. So pages I did a year ago no longer please me and I want to redo them very badly. At least with these digi pages that will be really easy to achieve.
