Scrapbooking Made Simple

We ran this class twice as it was so popular so I haven't been able to put the instructions up until we had finished both classes. Today I had a real newbie scrapper who did this class and she did a great job of this, so it's suitable for all levels of scrapper from newbie to advanced. I've used the gorgeous Melissa Francis papers but you could adapt this layout to use any two papers from the same range. This canvas is a 10 x 15cm canvas that has been painted using a sponge roller and a pearlescent pink paint by monte marte. I used papers by Melissa Francis to create this layout. I have distressed the edge of my papers and then inked them but feel free to leave this step out if you don’t like a distressed effect to your page. (A small sponge is included in your kit for this purpose).   Distress and ink the edges of the 19 x 23.5cm patterned paper. I really love this layout too! It's so simple and cheap as I haven't used much but I think it's very effective. I have a sheet of cardstock for my background and two patterned papers from the DCWV Nana's Nursery range. I used a fiskars border punch on one (courtesy of the daisy chain scrapbook tools supply) and cut out pieces of another and layered them onto the first with foam tape. I love that the embellishments on this page are all just pieces of the patterned paper cut out and layered on top. If you wanted to make them stand out even more you could cover them with dimensional magic. I then used the store cuttlebug to cut out the swirls and swirly heart from one of the papers and after stamping a journalling square on some scrap paper I attached it using a pin as these were on special at the front counter. This layout was really quick! I've been hoarding green and pink things for a while now as my son's school uniform is green and my daughter loves wearing pink. In this case though I had a series of photos showing my daughter playing hide and seek with her friend and I loved how she hid right under his nose. I used a vellum that I had bought in a bulk pack some time ago as my background. Some chipboard letters I bought for $2 (decorated!) and a napkin I loved to fill in the blanks and create a sort of hide and seek effect of the photos.

I love this photo! This was taken by our new adopted grandfather. I have done a layout of this photo using paper scrapbooking techniques. Here I couldn't resist using the photo again when I saw this perfect page kit from 2 Peas. Sometimes it is a good idea to use colours in your photo to create your background. And sometimes you'r better off not using those colours as your photo fades into the background and doesn't pop off the page. Here I used the same colours and I think I get away with it. ...lol I'm so tired I can't really think very well tonight. I had to get my kids out of bed 2 hours before their usual wake up time this morning so I could drive my dad to the hospital where he went for a bi-pass operation. He's doing better than us I think.
