Scrapbooking Made Simple

This is one of my latest creations. I did this as an 8 x 8 layout to go into an album recently given to me by my sister-in-law. This is the last photo I have of my wonderful mother-in-law. This was taken in Easter 2004. She died 2 months later. I've just started doing some layouts of my mother-in-law for my kids. I haven't done these before as I was busy doing the latest photos of the kids but then I found a couple of poignant photos and felt I just had to start on these. I think the reason I hadn't done this photo in a layout before was because I couldn't think of an appropriate title. Then I found this poem and just had to call the layout "Beautiful". Mind you I know she wouldn't of picked that title herself as she wasn't feeling very beautiful at this point. As you can see I don't scrap in order of event. That's because I get excited by the latest batch of photos that arrive and can't wait to scrap those. Well because I've been a bit busy lately I haven't had a chance to send any photos off for developing and consequently had to go back over projects that have been waiting a while. These photos are of DS's 5th Birthday. (I know I'm slack! Afterall I've only recently shown you photos of last Novembers' 6th Birthday!). As usual we had a ball organising this party. It was a Hi 5 Party. So there were Hi5 napkins, cups plates etc etc.... Then we got a Hi5 DVD of then teaching you how to do the dances to their songs. We moved all the furniture off the outdoor entertaining area so this resembled a stage (old packing crates with fence pailings nailed onto them.... another miserly invention) then we put the TV and DVD player on a Table outside and played the DVD so the kids could dance along. Here's my latest paper scrapped project. I made the word love and used a heart as the "O". I first inked these chipboard letters with my ink pads. The letters then had dimensional magic added and the heart was covered in glitter before being covered in dimensional magic. (I always paint or ink a chipboard piece before glittering as this cuts down on the amount of glitter I need to use.) The circles were cut from beautiful patterned papers I got off my sister-in-law who aquired them from cost-co. They worked out to be 33c a sheet and I have used less than a quater of each sheet. The rub-on was off a sheet from "Me and My Big ideas" which I got at K-Mart for under $5.00. The saying: The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. I love the glitter chipboard alphabets from K&Co! But despite loving them to death I can't spend my entire weekly scrap budget on just one item. So I haven't bought any! I'm hoping to get some for my birthday though....take note DH...lol Anyway to get around this dilema I make my own. KMart has just increased the range of scrapbooking supplies they stock, much to my and my best scrapbuddies' delight! So I purchased a set of 5 glitter pots for $3 and make my own chipboard letters. Here are two layouts I just completed using my glitter chipboard letters and using my new Autumn Leaves stamps which are FABULOUS! I splashed out on these. As they needed a week and a half of my usual scrapbooking budget but I couldn't wait any longer. I recently got these photos from another mum who took these shots of my kids at her sons' birthday party and I thought they were great shots! They're not the traditional smiling faces but in a way they are truer to my kids persona...
