Scrapbooking Made Simple

I just finished this layout the other night. I've used a variety of techniques here. Firstly I did some digi scrap on the photo. I converted it to a painting and then added the poem directly on the photo. Then I used ink pads to colour the chipboard elements. I then painted glitter paint over the top of the ink and then I used stickers to decorate the rest of the page. I love these stickers. As they're so cheap I'll often buy a packet when I have a spare $2. I put one of the stickers (butterfly one) onto a piece of clear plastic off the kids christmas present packaging and then coloured it in with pens. I then attached the butterfly to the layout using a jewelled brad. The cost of this layout: 3 sheets of stickers ($2 each) but only used a small portion of each sheet, less than a fifth. Then one sheet of paper. Free chipboard elements and a jewelled brad ($0.10). So around $2.00 for the whole layout.

I love to get alot of uses out of one purchase and this is a perfect example of how I do that. This butterfly is one of many strung together. The whole strand cost me $1.69 and was one of a couple I purchased to decorate out yard for my daughter's birthday part.... It was a butterfly party... anyway at the end of the party I took them down and have used them to decorate my daughters bedroom. Recently one of the butterfly's and one of the flowers fell off so I've confisgated them as scrapbooking supplies! Now I just need to find the photos of that party and we're good to start scrapping!

It's very simple. I've used one piece of cardstock and left over pieces of patterned paper and chipboard letters. I mixed up my fonts and the use of the outside of the letters as well as the punched out centres for more contrast. The faux metal pieces were a gift and come on a sheet that you cut out the bits you want. I really felt that this layout needed to be rather simple as the photo was so beautiful it needed to take centre stage. Also as the photo is so large (A4) I had very little page left so I added the two little rub-ons onto the photo. So if you like it feel free to leave me a comment. Alternatively I'm open to suggestions on how I could improve it. I think I have save money here by using off cuts of patterned paper to cover my chipboard rather than buying premade ones. Also I cut my own chipboard letters to save money whenever possible.
