Mothers Day is fast approaching!

Well we're fast approaching Mothers Day, which is not my favourite time of year as you all know.

However I do enjoy focusing on my kids and my mother's day and it's a perfect time to update my scrapsupplies or tools.... but this year.... I don't really know what I want. I don't really need anything as far as I know anyway.... Do you have a favourite tool that is the best buy you've ever made? I really want to hear about it! I am looking for something I need but don't know I do... if that makes sense.



I'm getting worried. It's getting close and I don't know what to ask for .... which is dangerous in my house as DH will get me something that is WAY over priced! Which is why I now decide what I want so he doesn't spend too much. I usually pick a few options and DH and DS and DD go shopping from that list... LOL or should I say circled and highlighted junk mail.


HELP! What should I ask for?

I love the Creative Memories tools - not the cheapest but I've proven to myself the best therefore cheaper in the long haul. Their shape makers are on sale this month.
Otherwise what about a little Xyron sticker machine (about $15 and refills from $6 to $8). I'm frugal with mine but sometimes you just NEED one lol. They are a fun gift for children too I think to make stickers.
Another idea: get a "handmade by Kyra" stamp made up...I have one and I use it on the back of my cards and other things. It was about $20 I think. Hope this helps.

Cardstock only Layouts

After looking at the cost of a layout I'm going to challenge myself to do some cardstock only layouts (not for my wedding though). Do you think you could manage it? Well I'm not sure but I'm gonna give it a go. But it does get a little ridiculous the costs, con't you think? So I'm going to challenge myself to do a layout using cardstock and patterned paper only! Of course not having a cricuit or sizzix or anything this will mean hand cutting my title....... painstaking... BUT I think it'll be a challenge artistically too. These layouts were done by Deb of Toowoomba and you can see how she's used her paper and cardstock to acentuate her photo's theme.... I especially love the dolphin! When I went to a scrapbook evening recently one of the ladies did a fabulous layout using paper piecing. She made Dora the Explorer layous and her 'dora' was fantastic. Coffee Mugs are Finished

Here are the digi scrapped coffee mugs I told you about a few posts back. They're back from the "printer". These were really easy to do. I first created my document that I was digi scrapping and I made the size of the document 4" x 6'" (a standard photo). I then decorated that page using my digital scrapbooking papers and embellishments and finally added the photos. I then went to my local photo lab and uploaded these images to their software and chose to have them printed on mugs. (I chose the stretch option which stretches the image around the mug. So then I had to resize the image to get all my decorations on the mug). And here they are! It only took them a week to print them! So if you're thinking of doing this for a christmas present I think you may just get it back in time...... but check with your photo lab to make sure they could get it back to you before Christmas. I'm happy with the result..... hope the recipients will be too?

Off the Page Project - Suitcase

I finished this OTP project of a small suitcase for Nana over the Easter Break. This is for her to take to her Sewing and Quilting Classes. She can fill it with material and stuff and take it along with her. I did very little decoration to the outside of the suitcase as I felt it had a really great aged feel. Just adding the stamping a few paper cut out flowers and the ribbons and the chipboard letters. This project cost me $3.50. I got the suitcase for free from my Dad's house, the chipboard was free from the back of notebooks, The ribbons are left overs from other projects as is the paper. So a very miserly renovation! I think simple is often best when doing a present for someone else. I used a co-ordinating range of pink and brown papers to cover the chipboard which was left over from my book about me.
