I finished this OTP project of a small suitcase for Nana over the Easter Break. This is for her to take to her Sewing and Quilting Classes. She can fill it with material and stuff and take it along with her. I did very little decoration to the outside of the suitcase as I felt it had a really great aged feel. Just adding the stamping a few paper cut out flowers and the ribbons and the chipboard letters. This project cost me $3.50. I got the suitcase for free from my Dad's house, the chipboard was free from the back of notebooks, The ribbons are left overs from other projects as is the paper. So a very miserly renovation! I think simple is often best when doing a present for someone else. I used a co-ordinating range of pink and brown papers to cover the chipboard which was left over from my book about me. I did step outside the scrapbooking arena when choosing my adhesive......lol..... I actually used liquid nails...... well I wanted to make sure those suckers were gonna stay put A...
I recently obtained some acetate overlays 12 x 12 (pack of 6) very cheaply. Anyway I was looking through the overlays and really wanted to use this one. So I dug out some old photos (taken pre digital camera days). Usually when I'm doing a layout I'll pull out several papers that go with my theme, or colours or the mood I wish to convey, or perhaps that match my photos or the embellishments I wish use. If this is too hard for me or if I'm conflicted I'll often take my choices to my DH along with the photos and ask for his opinion. Being an artist he has a good eye. Anyway this time I was able to make the entire layout on the acetate and then show him background choices. I think this is a great way to work on your own style and set out. It can teach you how to choose a good complimentary background for your photos. Below are the options I presented to him. 1. 2. 3. 4. What's...
In my never ending quest to save money on my scrapbooking I've been wanting to start digital scrapbooking. Well I'm happy to say I now have a laptop... yeah.... don't ask me any nerd questions about it... it's a laptop, it works.... it's new.... that's all I know... Now the really hard part starts.... I have to learn how to digi-scrap..... I have a program on my laptop that will apparently do this... but I don't know anything about it... so it'll be a while before I'm completing layouts worthy of being posted. On a brighter note I found an excellent resource site where you can download some backgrounds, brushes and embellishments. http://www.mistypink.net/ They look totally original to me and I think rather pretty. See what you think.. Let me know!
