My Scrap Space

Image
Several posts ago I talked about my complete house reorganisation. And here finally are the photos of my new scrap space. These photos probably don't show how great this area is for me, so you'll have to trust me on that one. Behind my desk on the opposite wall is the family computer printer, scanner etc and a book case filled with supplies and idea magazines. The shelves are a simple plastic (very cheap) free standing shelf system that I have used over and over for the last five years in a number of areas. Whenever I have had a baby this shelf unit moves to above the change table so the wipes and bags etc are always within easy reach. Then between babies it has been a great place to store laundry items like the iron and washing powder. But now it's for my scrapbooking supplies. Between this shelf unit and my sewing table I have just about everything at my finger tips. (The sewing table has great storage space for all those things I like to put my hands on quickly...

School Holidays are upon us.

It's school holdiay time again. I love the school holidays. No rushing in the morning. I'm not constantly repeating myself.... brush your teeth, brush your teeth, get dressed, get dressed.... Anyway this holiday is nearly half way over all ready, I can't believe how fast time flies!... I did manage to organise an excellent play date this week. My daughter's friend and her little brother came over to play and her mum and I did some scrapbooking. It was alot of fun. Especially as the mum is new to scrapbooking so I mostly showed her how to do things. She hadn't seen stamping or heat embossing before so we did a bit of that. It was pretty cool! I was telling her though how lucky she is to start scrapbooking now as opposed to when I started. At that time there weren'tt any scrapbooking supplies in the department stores or the discount stores for that matter. I had to be alot more creative then to be a scrapmiser than I am now! It was good talking to her though abou...

You must get a Sizzix... that's an order!

Hey everyone, You'll never guess what happened to me last night? My DH ordered me to go buy a sizzix machine! WOW! Of course this is because I make him hand cut out the chipboard letters for my layouts as my hands get all cramped up using a craft knife and pressing that hard. Anyway last night whilst doing this for me he broke a craft knife. After some swearing he came and told me I have to go buy one of those things he used at the last scrapbooking day I went to. I was afraid to get excited until he agreed to give up his entertainment budget for as long as it took for me to get one. So now between my scrapbudget and his entertainment budget it shouldn't be long at all! How exciting! No more hand cramps for me! I think these sorts of tools that allow you to make lots of your own titles and embellishments are the best way to spend your scrap buget. I have concentrated on spending on tools more than rub ons and expensive embellishments or single sheets of paper. I still believe ...

I Love KandCo Glitter Chipboard Letters!

Image
I love the glitter chipboard alphabets from K&Co! But despite loving them to death I can't spend my entire weekly scrap budget on just one item. So I haven't bought any! I'm hoping to get some for my birthday though....take note DH...lol Anyway to get around this dilema I make my own. KMart has just increased the range of scrapbooking supplies they stock, much to my and my best scrapbuddies' delight! So I purchased a set of 5 glitter pots for $3 and make my own chipboard letters. Here are two layouts I just completed using my glitter chipboard letters and using my new Autumn Leaves stamps which are FABULOUS! I splashed out on these. As they needed a week and a half of my usual scrapbooking budget but I couldn't wait any longer. I recently got these photos from another mum who took these shots of my kids at her sons' birthday party and I thought they were great shots! They're not the traditional smiling faces but in a way they are truer to my kids persona...

Party Pictures

Image
Well finally here are the photos of my daughters birthday party last Saturday. There's great shot of her here with a chocolate cupcake, most of which is on her face. The kids had to decorate their own cupcakes. We also had a fairy to entertain them and she did some face painting. The trampoline was a present from a few of us and the jumping castle was her only request. What a day. We do go overboard! But then this is the part my DH and I love most about being parents! Turning 3! I can't believe it! It seems like only yesterday she was my tinnie bundle.....

I found this cool Quiz and after answering the questions discovered I am KI Memories Paper.... You are KI MEMORIES paper! "You tend to focus on creativity with your pages. The brighter the better! You celebrate all the joys of life with energy and enthusiasm. You treat each new day as a gift." Which is cool cause I do love the range... but hardly ever buy it cause it doesn't come in bulk packs! Oh well it is a fun quiz though! Which Scrapbooking Paper Collection Are You? You are KI MEMORIES paper! You tend to focus on creativity with your pages. The brighter the better! You celebrate all the joys of life with energy and enthusiasm. You treat each new day as a gift. Take this quiz !

Scrapbook Convention OMG

Well this long weekend just passed apart from having my daughter's birthday party I went to a scrapbook convention/fair whatever you call it at the Convention Centre. Talk about scrapbook heaven! My best scrap buddy and I headed off first thing in the morning and spent the entire day, Sunday looking at all the stalls and attending classes and watching demonstrations. And of course we spent lots of money! We did work together on our purchases though to ensure we got maximum value for our money. A few of the products I thought were worth mentioning are the adhesive paper lace which you can colour any colour you like! For those willing to spend a bit more the watercolour crayons were very good value though not so cheap on the outlay at $69.00. But they last YEARS! I must say though the rest of the show was same old same old. The cuttlebug was getting a bit of a plug and I saw a few cricut's and one wishblade but these aren't new so the innovations just weren't there this ...

Finish your Book of ME!

Hi guys, it's been a pretty awful week in our house. Hence the lapse in posts. My appologies. I'll get back up to speed soon. One of my friends' lost her mother-in-law this past week. Now I know alot of you would probably be happy to lose yours... but my girlfriend was blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law just like me! Now this time of year is pretty hard in our house usually(with Mothers Day just been and the anniversaries of their deaths coming up), but this latest development pushed us over the edge into crying territory. (Something I usually try not to do, as it upsets the kids). Well I guess I need to explain myself a little for those of you who don't know me and haven't a clue what I'm talking about.... My daughter turns three this week and her birthday is always a little sad for us. When she was 5 days old my husbands' wonderful mother died. For us this was a very hard time as she had been so sick for so long and my husband and I had watched her...
