Taking A Look At Things To See When You Visit Las Vegas

Las Vegas stands among the most popular destinations in America for people to visit, but one thing that a lot of people fail to realize, when they visit Vegas, is that there is a lot more to the city than just The Strip; if you are going to be taking a trip to Vegas at some point in the near future, you will want to make sure you know how to maximize your trip - and if you are not planning to take a trip to Vegas sometime soon, you can keep these three ideas in mind for whenever you eventually make the time to go!

Of course, when you are in Las Vegas, The Strip is "the place to go," but you should realize that there is also a downtown to Vegas, and this is where all the oldest casinos (and some of the greatest stories) are; when you go to Vegas, make sure you take the time to visit downtown, as you will be disappointed if you leave the city without seeing all that this part of the city has to offer.

And although most people spend plenty of time on The Strip when they go to Vegas, most of this time is spent there at night, but rather than just lounging by the pool all day or sleeping away the afternoon when you are in Vegas, you should also take the time to get out on the strip in the daytime; in addition to the Casinos and the shows, there is also plenty of great shopping in Vegas - right there on The Strip - and the best time to get out there and see all that the Vegas shopping experience has to offer is during the day.

And even though you will want to maximize the time you have to enjoy The Strip at night, one thing you should do is take at least one night to get away from The Strip for an hour or two: The Strip at night is a magnificent sight from far away, against the vast expanse of the desert, so drive a little ways away from The Strip one night, sit outside, and drink in the view.

Everyone who has spent time in Vegas has their favorite parts of the city, and when you make sure you indulge in these three things when you visit Vegas, you just might be adding one of these things to your own list when you leave.

Off the Page Project - Suitcase

I finished this OTP project of a small suitcase for Nana over the Easter Break. This is for her to take to her Sewing and Quilting Classes. She can fill it with material and stuff and take it along with her. I did very little decoration to the outside of the suitcase as I felt it had a really great aged feel. Just adding the stamping a few paper cut out flowers and the ribbons and the chipboard letters. This project cost me $3.50. I got the suitcase for free from my Dad's house, the chipboard was free from the back of notebooks, The ribbons are left overs from other projects as is the paper. So a very miserly renovation! I think simple is often best when doing a present for someone else. I used a co-ordinating range of pink and brown papers to cover the chipboard which was left over from my book about me. We're on TV!

For all those readers of my blog who are located in the Brisbane region of Australia tune in to Brisbane Extra ( Channel 9) this afternoon at 5:30pm to see a story my DH, DD, DS and I filmed for them a few days ago. If you're not in the area and therefore unable to get the program you can view it online after the show at http://www.extraonline.com.au/ . It usually takes a day to get the story online under the " latest story " category. The story is about the Lions Auties and Uncles Program . This is a fabulous program run by the Lions clubs. The program is designed to help families. They match needy children up with an Aunty or Uncle figure who they can see regularly and learn from and generally absorb into their family unit. All of the Aunties and Uncles volunteer for the program and are not paid. Though they are checked out carefully! We have applied because as many of you know we don't have any grandma's for my kids. My Scrap Space

Several posts ago I talked about my complete house reorganisation. And here finally are the photos of my new scrap space. These photos probably don't show how great this area is for me, so you'll have to trust me on that one. Behind my desk on the opposite wall is the family computer printer, scanner etc and a book case filled with supplies and idea magazines. The shelves are a simple plastic (very cheap) free standing shelf system that I have used over and over for the last five years in a number of areas. Whenever I have had a baby this shelf unit moves to above the change table so the wipes and bags etc are always within easy reach. Then between babies it has been a great place to store laundry items like the iron and washing powder. But now it's for my scrapbooking supplies. Between this shelf unit and my sewing table I have just about everything at my finger tips. (The sewing table has great storage space for all those things I like to put my hands on quickly...
