Scrapbooking Made Simple

Here's a layout I did for my hubby to document how he feels for a change. I'm always doing layouts about my mum and my nana who I miss dearly.( Sorry I couldn't crop out my craft mat as the wings go off the edge of the page).  So a change of subject was definitely in order. I do try to do layouts of my mother-in-law whenever possible but I just don't have the sheer number of photos of her. (My dad gave me all the photos in the house of my mum right back to her childhood when she died) So how did I save on this layout? Well the cardboard was free.  I handmade all of the embellishments except the frame which I bought from K-Mart. I made all the flowers out of off-cuts of paper from other projects. I also made the wings in the top left hand corner by stamping on a scrap of acetate and then dusting fine  glitter over the wet ink. Here's is the canvas class I have designed for August. The class is called "Adore". In this class you'll learn how to embellish with ribbon, how to make your own flowers (of course) and team them with some of the gorgeous prima ones to great effect. You'll also learn how to create a quick and effective background using glimmermist.  I've also added some distressing techniques and a great way to use some of your stencils to achieve a raised 3D effect. Here I used one patterned paper as my frame and clustered my embellishments in the bottom right hand corner of the photo. I really love the prima bird and "adore" branch. If you're coming to this class you'll need scissors and double sided tape and a wet glue (helmar 420 is my favourite for making flowers)an embossing tool and mat and a distressing tool if you have one. Hi everyone, well I'm sure you're all busy making gifts for friends and family getting ready for Christmas. I make these two canvases and will be giving the blue one away to the special lady in the photo with me. She was my mum's best friend. This year my husband and I renewed our wedding vows on the beach for our 15th Wedding Anniversary and she came. Darling Hubby sang the Savage Garden Song "I think I Loved You before I met you" to me as I walked down the isle. Afterwards she made me cry ALOT by giving me as a gift the crystal clock my mum gave her for a wedding present many many years ago. So I made this canvas to gift to her as a thank you gift. This is a canvas I did as a present for my Best Friends' Mum.  She is such a wonderful lady and has been so great to me since my mum died I wanted to do something special for her.  This is the first of two canvases I did. One for her and one for her best friend. When doing a canvas I like to paint my canvas first and then use papers to accent my photo. I like to keep canvases really simple. Here I used one piece of cardstock with a martha stewart border punch and then some hearts and more of those handmade flowers I've been doing to add some colour to the layout.  I didn't have a punch or cartridge for my cricuit to cut the scalloped hearts so instead used a card I had received from a friend as a template to draw around and then hand cut the hearts. I also added one large flower folded in half behind all my handmade blooms to give more ruffle to the layout.
