Retreat weekend layout - Turning 2

Image
I've been hanging onto these photos for a while (DD1 just turned 5 LOL) .... anyway as it was a butterfly party I used punched out and stamped out butterflies to embellish my page... very cheap embellishments as they use my patterned papers as the embellishments. I also punched out of the cardstock to add another depth and lucky me used my new scrapbuddy sharon's cricuit to cut my title out of patterned paper. Cutting your title out of patterned paper, whether using a scalpel, cricuit, slice, cuttlebug or sizzix is a very thrifty move!

Adore layout

I went with the beads! I sewed these pearl beads on for effect. Mostly because I've forgotten how to do my french knots. LOL! This is the final layout I did at the scrap night last week. For a multiphoto layout there is still lots of room to embellish which is nice. In these photos the kids were waiting for someone to arrive (can't remember who) and DD used the time to lavish lots of hugs and kisses on her big brother. I am undecided if I will sew french knots where the pencil dots are around my hand sewing swirl or if I'll attach little beads. I love the pink and brown papers I used here on the chipboard letters. They're from the Die Cuts With a View Glitter stack range. I inked the edges of the page for a little more interest and then used a gorgeous sparkly pink embroidery cotton to sew my swirls. I achieved these by using a tracing wheel (a sewing tool) in my doodle pro. Doodling is a great way to add something to your layout! My sister-in-law said she has found te...

Off the Page Project - Suitcase

Image
I finished this OTP project of a small suitcase for Nana over the Easter Break. This is for her to take to her Sewing and Quilting Classes. She can fill it with material and stuff and take it along with her. I did very little decoration to the outside of the suitcase as I felt it had a really great aged feel. Just adding the stamping a few paper cut out flowers and the ribbons and the chipboard letters. This project cost me $3.50. I got the suitcase for free from my Dad's house, the chipboard was free from the back of notebooks, The ribbons are left overs from other projects as is the paper. So a very miserly renovation! I think simple is often best when doing a present for someone else. I used a co-ordinating range of pink and brown papers to cover the chipboard which was left over from my book about me. I did step outside the scrapbooking arena when choosing my adhesive......lol..... I actually used liquid nails...... well I wanted to make sure those suckers were gonna stay put A...

Pink and Brown Christmas Present - Calendar, Address Book, Receipe Book

Image
Well I have been a busy little bee whilst not online and posting. I have been making Christmas Presents. I love this time of year. It's hard work and by Christmas Day I really deserve my day of rest! But no matter how tired I am I still manage to cram some more into it... So here is an example of one gift I have made. There's a Calendar/Note board, a receipe book and address book. I used a pink and brown theme for this project so all the items will co-ordinate. I actually used this colour scheme for my album of my childhood so you know it's a favourite. The Calendar/Note board is two sided. This is the noteboard side. (see the bulldog clip for storing notes or memo's) This is the calendar side. (It's a two year calendar which I purchased for $1.... easier than making it) The whole thing is done as a sandwich board so you can easily close it up to get it out of the way if you need the space. Here's my receipe book: I only divided it into two sections Savoury ...
