retreat weekend layout - Joy

Image
Well here's a really simple layout. I used the store's fiskars border punch (must get one of these.. LOL) to make the edge of the page interesting. I used a piece of patterned paper from a pack I got at one of the discount stores and the chipboard letters were actually a gift, but are rather cheap and come from K-Mart. The butterfly and journalling circle are stamps I then cut out and I have stamped onto the page the swirl along the left side. My saying was again printed on acetate at the retreat.

Mother-in-law's last Easter

This is one of my latest creations. I did this as an 8 x 8 layout to go into an album recently given to me by my sister-in-law. This is the last photo I have of my wonderful mother-in-law. This was taken in Easter 2004. She died 2 months later. I've just started doing some layouts of my mother-in-law for my kids. I haven't done these before as I was busy doing the latest photos of the kids but then I found a couple of poignant photos and felt I just had to start on these. I think the reason I hadn't done this photo in a layout before was because I couldn't think of an appropriate title. Then I found this poem and just had to call the layout "Beautiful". Mind you I know she wouldn't of picked that title herself as she wasn't feeling very beautiful at this point. She had been in pain for many years with rheumatoid arthritis and then even more pain due to the tumour for the last 8 months of her life. By the time this photo was taken she'd had her bo...

Ballet Friends Layout

Get Your 500 Scrapbooking Sketches Now... Click here! This layout is very simple and very cheap. I only used one sheet of cardstock, A quater of a packet of $2 rub ons, One chipboard letter from a packet of 26 costing $3.95 and some packaging off a christmas present. I have again blacked out the face of the child that isn't mine as i didn't have time to ask permisssion off her mother so I didn't want to risk it This is darling daughter's best friend. They started ballet together at the beginning of last year and here they are in their matching little outfits. When I was doing this layout I wanted to use the chipboard letter that I had but didn't have a patterned paper I liked. Then I remembered the packaging off the shower gel, moisturiser, bubble bath I got I think it was for Mother's Day? Anyway it was perfect. It was this simple strip of patterened cardstock still sticky on the back! The gift tag also came in handy as my journaling spot.

Last night I had the house to myself for a couple of hours so I was able to do some scrapbooking! YEAH! The kids go back to school tomorrow so I should be back into the swing of it soon! Anyway this layout was alot of fun to do. I got the cardstock on special for $0.50c and the letters were a set that I got at the $2 Shop... mind you the box was $3.95..... so not $2 at all..... Anyway I really wanted a glittery paper for this layout and as I didn't have one and couldn't go to a scrapbook shop at 7pm I got the Kindy Glitz out and created my own! This is very easy to do. In a couple of the above photos you can see the effect I created as the paper is only half done with kindy glitz when I took the photo. Try this for your own effects. You can't get this wrong. Just turn your kindy glitz bottle upside down and let all of the liquid run to the top. Then get a pin and pierce the top. On a scratch piece of paper try out the product to ensure you've got an even flow t...
