Daddy layout

Get Your 500 Scrapbooking Sketches Now... Click here! Here's another layout I completed when I had the house to myself Sunday night. I used 4.5 x 6.5 patterned papers from the "Glitter Cardstock Matstack" (48 sheets for $8.95) and "The Glitter Mat Stack" (60 Sheets for $8.95) and one sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock. I used free chipboard to cut out the letters and a Bella Chips swirl in the bottom right hand corner. The ribbons are left overs from my christmas projects. This layout shows some digital techniques. I used the "oil painting' feature to create this effect and then wrote the quote over the photo. The quote reads: All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them. Earvin Magic Johnson I have added another quote: Any man can be a father. It takes someone special to be a dad. -author unknown- To save paper I laid each piece down and then traced around them with a pencil. I then cut out the paper you wouldn't see...

My Love

Last night I had the house to myself for a couple of hours so I was able to do some scrapbooking! YEAH! The kids go back to school tomorrow so I should be back into the swing of it soon! Anyway this layout was alot of fun to do. I got the cardstock on special for $0.50c and the letters were a set that I got at the $2 Shop... mind you the box was $3.95..... so not $2 at all..... Anyway I really wanted a glittery paper for this layout and as I didn't have one and couldn't go to a scrapbook shop at 7pm I got the Kindy Glitz out and created my own! This is very easy to do. In a couple of the above photos you can see the effect I created as the paper is only half done with kindy glitz when I took the photo. Try this for your own effects. You can't get this wrong. Just turn your kindy glitz bottle upside down and let all of the liquid run to the top. Then get a pin and pierce the top. On a scratch piece of paper try out the product to ensure you've got an even flow t...

Fy, Fly Butterfly

I just finished this layout the other night. I've used a variety of techniques here. Firstly I did some digi scrap on the photo. I converted it to a painting and then added the poem directly on the photo. Then I used ink pads to colour the chipboard elements. I then painted glitter paint over the top of the ink and then I used stickers to decorate the rest of the page. I love these stickers. As they're so cheap I'll often buy a packet when I have a spare $2. I put one of the stickers (butterfly one) onto a piece of clear plastic off the kids christmas present packaging and then coloured it in with pens. I then attached the butterfly to the layout using a jewelled brad. The cost of this layout: 3 sheets of stickers ($2 each) but only used a small portion of each sheet, less than a fifth. Then one sheet of paper. Free chipboard elements and a jewelled brad ($0.10). So around $2.00 for the whole layout.

Cowboy Layout

Here's my layout of my DS a his school dance as a Cowboy. I loved this photo. Found it on the school noticeboard. This one was taken by the principal who came to the dance as Jack Sparrow. he looked great! Last year he was Elvis. He's a great principal! Anyway when I saw this on the noticeboard I had to have it. This isn't a very miserly layout because I purchased a sheet of patterned paper especially for this layout but I did save with my embellishments. The little cowboy suit is a gift from my sister-in-law who had this as a left over from a layout of her own. The sheriff star is part of his outfit. I found the ribbon at my LSS and new the colours were a perfect match for his shirt so had to have them. The cowboy tittle is a leather look paper on chipboard letters. (Which I cut myself from free chipboard). Now for the photo: I printed it twice. Once A4 size on canvas paper and frayed the edges and once wallet size so the true colours could be shown. The materials used fo...

Layout of Sunlight Through Her Hair - Perfect

Image
It's very simple. I've used one piece of cardstock and left over pieces of patterned paper and chipboard letters. I mixed up my fonts and the use of the outside of the letters as well as the punched out centres for more contrast. The faux metal pieces were a gift and come on a sheet that you cut out the bits you want. I really felt that this layout needed to be rather simple as the photo was so beautiful it needed to take centre stage. Also as the photo is so large (A4) I had very little page left so I added the two little rub-ons onto the photo. So if you like it feel free to leave me a comment. Alternatively I'm open to suggestions on how I could improve it. I think I have save money here by using off cuts of patterned paper to cover my chipboard rather than buying premade ones. Also I cut my own chipboard letters to save money whenever possible.

I Love KandCo Glitter Chipboard Letters!

I love the glitter chipboard alphabets from K&Co! But despite loving them to death I can't spend my entire weekly scrap budget on just one item. So I haven't bought any! I'm hoping to get some for my birthday though....take note DH...lol Anyway to get around this dilema I make my own. KMart has just increased the range of scrapbooking supplies they stock, much to my and my best scrapbuddies' delight! So I purchased a set of 5 glitter pots for $3 and make my own chipboard letters. Here are two layouts I just completed using my glitter chipboard letters and using my new Autumn Leaves stamps which are FABULOUS! I splashed out on these. As they needed a week and a half of my usual scrapbooking budget but I couldn't wait any longer. I recently got these photos from another mum who took these shots of my kids at her sons' birthday party and I thought they were great shots! They're not the traditional smiling faces but in a way they are truer to my kids persona...

Layout: What do you do?

This is the layout I completed last night. I love these photos taken on our holiday to the sunshine coast in september 2006. My son picked an ice-cream flavour called strawberry shortcake... but then as sometimes happens.... he didn't like it... so his solution was simple... share with his sister. Luckily she didn't mind! I thought I'd try a technique for hidden journalling that allows you to open the journalling box despite the rest of the layout being inside your page protector. Here I've used the smallest photo as the 'book cover' for my journalling. This section is raised off the layout via magnets that allow this photo to be on the outside of the page protector. This is a really cheap layout with the magnet costing $2 for a set of 6 (pairs), my chipboard letters (share) and arrow are off the back of old notebooks and the "bling" comes in a packet of 50 pieces for $2 and the larger blue bling flower is off my daughters/ hairclip... so all tha...

Alphabet Stickers, Rub-Ons, Templates

I find Titles can be the most expensive part of a layout. When I first started scrapbooking I bought alphabet stickers (yes I began with a Creative Memories Consultant), then I tried one set of rub-ons and frankly had a heart attack at the price.... Now I've moved onto Templates. I find it much cheaper to cut my titles out of patterned paper than to use stickers or rub-ons. Though if you're looking for a way to make your alphabet stickers go further save the backgrounds once all the stickers have been removed and either carefully cut around each letter or cut out a square around the letter. This is great cause it allows you to use each sticker sheet twice. I use my fiskars alphabet template all the time! It allows me to quickly and easily cut out the letters I need for my tittles. I also utilise chipboard letters . I have purchased a set of chipboard letters ($2 at the discount shop) which I use as my template for cutting out more letters on the back of old notebook...
