How To Make Tissue Paper Flowers

Image

MYO Flowers

I love using flowers on my layouts!  They're so pretty and add some beauty and softness to my pages.... but I don't luv the prices of some flowers. Like the prima range with the lace and pearl centres. Aren't they gorgeous? But I just can't pay $7.95 for three flowers. So recently I was looking through You Tube and watching some of the fabulous videos available on making flowers.  There are so many different ways to make flowers, each giving a unique look and no matter what your skill level you'll find a flower you can make.   But while I was looking I realised that there isn't a video on a flower I make. So I'll be uploading a video of this soon. My flowers are very cheap! (Were you expecting anything less from me? LOL). I make them out of tissue paper and can get at least 45 flowers out of one packet of tissue paper. So keep an eye out for this upcoming video.

getting the most out of my cricuit

I am loving my cricuit lately. Got some great new cartridges and have been having a ball with them. One of the things that has limited me with my cricuit is the need to buy new cutting mats . When I first got my cricuit the mats seemed to last for ages..... but then.... over time the mats have had less and less longevity. Which has put me off using it as I never seemed to have a useable mat when I needed it.  Until recently that is.... I am now using a repositionable adhesive (like you use for quilting) on my mats and haven't looked back since. This is such a money saver. Plus my projects don't take so long.  You see by spraying the mats all my old mats are now useable again. So when I want to cut  a project that maybe needs 5 different papers (like the store in sweet tooth boxes ) I simply spray all my mats add all my papers and then cut each paper one after another. Rather than waiting for me to remove the paper and then all the little cut out pieces and then add the n...

Mothers Inspire the Soul

Here it is: My first class for Arnolds Scrapbooking. This is a shabby vintage styled canvas. I have created the layout (canvas) to be able to fit several different kinds of photos. The "Mother" can be replaced with "Friends" or "Daughters" so you can use a more appropriate photo. My usual scrapmiserly ways were challenged I can tell you. I had to create the canvas and always keep in mind the unit cost of every item on the canvas so the whole project was still cheap enough for people to do as a class. I think a black and white photo looks great on this layout but a light pink themed photo would also look great. I have now got three themes that are recurring in my work. The hand stitching which I love. My sister in law does this alot on her layouts and I always think it makes a layout look really well loved. You have put in alot of work on that layout if you have hand stitched on it! I am also really feeling my chipboard elements lately and finally t...

Teaching Post

I am very excited to announce that I will be teaching classes at my local scrapbook store Arnolds Scrapbooking. I am so excited about this as I get to work with some lovely women who I've grown to know through my constant attendance in store.. LOL.  Secondly I love teaching.. I've taught people how to sail, how to drive and now I'll teach them how to craft. and thirdly I am so grateful for this opportunity to get paid doing something I love. How lucky can a girl get.  The best thing is there are no restrictions on my creativity. I can use any product in store.... or catalogue and order in........ and do any kind of project I like. I will concentrate on Off the page Projects and Canvases I think but my brain is literally whirring with ideas. My first class will be in September. I am teaching a canvas using some of the really yummy papers from Melissa Francis.  I will upload a photo and details when the day and time is decided so you can pop on in for my class if you live...

Tiny

This is darling hubby's favourite layout. The photo is so cute. DD2 is sitting in a glass bowl and has a flower hat on.... very cute! I love some of the photo's the travelling photo studio's will do.  I had to have one of these photos' done of my baby when I say the examples on their booth. I have used products from all different places here.... DCWV paper, Kaiser and other flowers and several rub ons (from the $2 store).  I tore and inked the edge of the lilac paper to highlight the tearing.  The brad in the centre of the flower says tinie tiny toes and was a gift from my sister-in-law. I also used a martha stewart border punch.
